Participants in this conference will come from many different countries, and speak many different languages. We want contributions to be accessible to the maximum number of participants. Since English is the language likely to be understood by the majority of participants, all presentations at this conference must be made in English, regardless of their topic.
Call for Panels
The organisers invite colleagues working on the history of science, technology and medicine in East Asia to submit proposals for panels on topics relevant to the field. Panels should ideally have from 3 to 6 individual papers; 30 minutes will be allocated to each of these. The proposal should begin with a short presentation of the theme of the panel (maximum 400 words), and include all the abstracts (maximum 400 words each) of the papers to be delivered as part of it. All proposals must be submitted in English and prepared based on the proposal template.
The program committee will give preference to panel proposals that include participants from two or more countries, and encourages the submission of proposals for panels dealing with more than one country. The organisers welcome panels focusing on a topic relevant to the theme of the conference: “Tradition and Modernity: East Asian Science, Technology, and Medicine from Perspectives of Global History and Multiculturalism“. They will however also consider proposals for panels within the broader area of the history of science, technology and medicine in East Asia.
